Thanks to the careful design of all parts of the breathing loop, the Liberty has extraordinarily low breathing resistance. No off-the-shelf pipe fittings or piping components are used in the Liberty – everything is specially manufactured precisely according to calculations, simulations and test results. Therefore, airflow is not disrupted by sudden changes in the cross section or by sharp bends, with the exception of the intentionally induced turbulent flow in the areas around the necks of the ppO₂ sensors and channeling of a small amount of air through the helium concentration sensors. According to measurements performed at a depth of 100 m, breathing work is 1.58  J/l (tidal volume 2.5 l, breath rate 30/min, heliox 10/90, measured in the independent Ansti testing facility in the UK), which place the CCR Liberty among the world’s best.
